Three area libraries will host introductions to the Live in HD simulcasts of operas at Collins.

The talks will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Bangor Public Library, 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at Orono Public Library and 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Brewer Public library.

At the talks, opera lovers will discuss why they think people who give opera a try will wind up as opera fans. The talks are a means of learning what opera is all about.

Bangor Public Library:

• Oct. 22, Dr. Paul Bauschatz will introduce Verdi’s “Macbeth.”

• Oct. 29, Dr. Esther Rauch will introduce Rossini’s “Carmen.”

• Dec. 3, Dr. and Mrs. Clough will introduce “The Barber of Seville.”

Orono Public Library:

• Oct. 23, Dr. Paul Bauschatz will introduce Verdi’s “Macbeth.”

• Dec. 4, Dr. Cathleen Bauschatz will introduce Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville.”

• Jan. 8, Mrs. Elizabeth Brand will introduce Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger.”

• Jan. 15, Dr. Esther Rauch will introduce Lehar’s “The Merry Widow.”

• Feb. 5, Dr. Cathleen Bauschatz will introduce Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffman.”

• Feb. 12, Dr. Paul Bauschatz will introduce Bartok’s “Duke of Bluebeard’s Castle.

• March 12, Dr. Esther  Rauch will introduce Rossini’s “La Donna Del Lago.”

• April 23, Mascagnis’ “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Leoncavello’s “Pagliacci” will be introduced.

Brewer Public Library

• Dec. 3, Mrs. Elizabeth Brand will introduce “The Barber of Seville.”

• Jan. 14, Dr. Esther Rauch  will introduce “The Merry Widow.”

• Feb. 4, Dr. Steven Evans will introduce “The Tales of Hoffman.”

• April 22, Dr. Esther Rauch will introduce Mascagnis’ “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Leoncavello’s “Pagliacci.”
