Cappuccino-flavored chips? No, thanks, said America.
The winner of this year’s Frito-Lay “Do Us a Flavor” contest is Wasabi Ginger, beating out the much-mocked Cappuccino as well as two other finalists, Mango Salsa and Bacon Mac & Cheese. PepsiCo Inc., Frito-Lay’s parent company, says about 1 million total votes were cast online for the second U.S. edition of the contest.
Contest winner Meneko Spigner McBeth, a nurse from New Jersey, suggested the sushi-inspired flavor. Her prize is either $1 million or 1 percent of the chips’ sales over the next year, whichever is larger.
