MONTICELLO, Maine — A Monticello man was arrested this week at the scene of a suspected methamphetamine lab in Monticello.
A deputy went to the Lake Road home of Matthew Thibodeau, 27, late Monday afternoon to conduct a bail check and discovered the lab, Chief Deputy Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday evening.
Thibodeau was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in scheduled drugs and violations of conditions of release. He remained at the jail Tuesday night.
A deputy from the sheriff’s office assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s lab team obtained a search warrant, and members of the MDEA and the sheriff’s office were at the scene of the suspected methamphetamine lab throughout the day on Tuesday.
As of Oct. 8, according to the MDEA, agents had investigated 20 suspected methamphetamine labs across the state — as many as in all of 2013.
