LEWISTON, Maine — A baby boy’s father found him dead in the bathtub in a Lewiston apartment Monday, according to state police.
The infant, whose first birthday would have been next week, was placed in the tub along with his 2-year-old sister for a bath by the children’s father, who then left the room, state police spokesman Stephen McCausland said.
When the boy’s father came back to check on the children, the boy was unresponsive, McCausland said.
An ambulance took the boy to Central Maine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to McCausland.
Police have interviewed both parents and are awaiting results from an autopsy that was scheduled for Tuesday, McCausland said.
