BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor day care that has been licensed since 1999 shut down suddenly on Oct. 17 when the owner voluntarily surrendered her license to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, according to department spokesman John Martins.
The Almost Home Daycare, which operated out of a home at 15 Charles St., is now the target of a DHHS investigation.
Martins said Wednesday the case has been handed over to the Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services, which has an out-of-home investigations unit, “after receiving a complaint.”
“Further details are not available at this time, as the investigation has not been finalized,” Martins added, declining to say more about what prompted the investigation or what has been found.
Martins said the day care is owned by Tracy Rowe. A phone message left at the day care Wednesday afternoon was not immediately returned.
