The York-based specialty food store Stonewall Kitchen has attracted new investment from the private equity firm Centre Partners, which has placed its operating partner at the helm of the 23-year-old company.
The company announced the new investment in a statement Monday, but it did not disclose the terms.
With the investment, John Stiker of Centre Partners will take over as CEO of the company known most for its jams, jellies and marmalades.
Company co-founder Jonathan King will remain the company’s chief creative officer and said in a statement that the new investment will allow the company to pursue its “next level of growth.”
Mainebiz reported co-founder Jim Stott will retire with Stiker’s arrival.
Centre Partners said in the statement that it has invested more than $2 billion in more than 70 deals. King said the private equity firm “has a track record of being a great partner to management teams looking to grow their businesses in the food and beverage industry, among others.”
Stonewall has about 11 stores — in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Maryland — that employ about 300 people.
