WATERVILLE, Maine — Local police are investigating a rash of car burglaries that occurred in Waterville earlier this month.

Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said 11 cars were burglarized on Oct. 24 near the Alfond Youth Center on North Street.

Police were called to the area shortly before 11 a.m., and Rumsey said he believes all the burglaries occurred shortly before officers were called.

Of the 11 vehicles, 10 had broken windows, Rumsey said. He said that items taken included purses, wallets, credit cards, cash, phones, a laptop and an iPad.

Rumsey said no arrests have been made, but surveillance video taken from the youth center captured what appeared to be a white minivan circling the area. Police were unable to get any suspect descriptions.

Anybody who sees anything suspicious should call Waterville police at 680-4700.
