BREWER, Maine — The Heroin Alert community presentation scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Brewer Performing Arts Center has been canceled due to a power outage, the Brewer Police Department announced in a Facebook post.

A session planned for Brewer High School students during the school day on Monday also was canceled, as were classes for the day.

“We will bring this program back for a community event at a future date, so that this opportunity for us to gather together to receive this important information is done — preferably during better, more predictable weather conditions,” the post said.

An early snowstorm that began on Saturday and raged on through Sunday night left an estimated 140,000 Mainers without power.

“Fortunately, we will still be able to provide this presentation to our Brewer High Students [Tuesday] morning,” the post said.

Brewer police said the educational presentation for adults will be rescheduled at a later time and that those who are interested in the program should check the Brewer Police Department’s Facebook page.
