YORK, Maine — A construction worker was killed Tuesday morning on the Maine Turnpike after a dump truck backed over him on the York River Bridge, state police said.

The man was working on a construction site when the accident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

The man’s name was not released pending family notification.
