It’s Election Day and the Bangor Daily News has up-to-the-minute coverage of the election to keep you informed all day long. And beginning at 5:30 tonight, we’ll be bringing you live social media coverage of the election, voter turnout and how things are looking as voting draws to a close.

What’s a Google Hangout? It’s a video chat where viewers can ask questions and get answers. The election Hangout tonight will feature Outdoors reporter Aislinn Sarnacki speaking about Question 1, the bear baiting referendum, from 5:30 to 5:45; reporter Nell Gluckman talking about the Congressional District 2 race (Emily Cain vs. Bruce Poliquin) from 5:45 to 6; Portland Bureau Chief Seth Koenig talking about marijuana in Maine from 6 to 6:15, and columnists Amy Fried and Matt Gagnon from 6:15 to 6:30.

Are you a fan of Twitter, the popular social media micro-blogging site where you can chat in real time? At 6:30 p.m., we will be heading over to Twitter to chat about all things election from the governor’s race to the congressional races to bear baiting. Join us with hashtag #bdnchat for a lively hour of questions, answers and getting your say on all the issues.
How to join the Google Hangout:
- Go to bangordailynews.com. It will be streamed live on the homepage.
- Use the Q&A module on the right side of the screen to ask questions about the election. You can also vote for your favorite moments with a simple thumbs up and thumbs down mechanism.
How to join the BDN election Twitter chat:
- Login to your Twitter account. If you don’t have one, it’s fast and free to set one up at Twitter.com.
- Search for the hashtag #bdnchat. This will bring up all the tweets relating to this hashtag on Twitter. You can do this on Twitter.com or log in through a site like TweetChat.com, which will automatically update as new tweets come in with the #bdnchat hashtag.
- Ask questions, answer questions, comment. The chat will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with BDN reporters including Aislinn Sarnacki, Seth Koenig and more answering questions about the governor’s race, the congressional races, the bear referendum and more.
