FREEPORT, Maine — Fourteen teens from the Portland area face multiple charges after Freeport police broke up what they say was an underage drinking party Saturday night in a vacant home on Sea Rose Lane.

The teens, 16 or 17 years old and from Portland, Scarborough or South Portland, were charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and the civil charge of possession of alcohol by consumption, Freeport police Lt. Susan Nourse said Wednesday.

Police went to the home just after 9 p.m. Saturday after a neighbor complained about suspicious activity. Officers found the teens drinking “mostly beer,” Nourse said.

The vacant home is either for sale or is in foreclosure. An estimate of damage to the walls was not available Wednesday.

A 17-year-old boy from Portland, who was “passed out,” was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, according to Nourse.

The teens were released to their parents. Charges will be forwarded to the juvenile community corrections officer, Nourse said.
