PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Police in Presque Isle are seeking the public’s help to solve a series of car burglaries that took place Wednesday evening during a soccer game in the city.

Sgt. Eric Erickson of the Presque Isle Police Department said late Thursday afternoon that the car burglaries took place on Skyway Street next to Presque Isle Middle School.

It appears that four vehicles were targeted, he said.

Police believe that the suspects struck near the end of the game, as people were getting ready to leave.

He said that he could not reveal what specifically was stolen, only that it was “personal property.”

Erickson said that there was no sign of forced entry, and there are no suspects at this time.

Police are urging the public to keep their cars locked and tuck their valuables out of sight when their vehicles are unattended.

Also, if individuals find that their vehicle has been burglarized and they are missing valuables, they should contact the police department.

They also urge anyone that may have information about the individuals responsible for these burglaries to contact the department at 764-4476.

Officers Ryan Eagles and Tyler Cote are investigating the incident.
