BANGOR, Maine — Team members from Bangor Christian, Orono and Central high schools had to do a little extra work in order to make sure they would be competing for Eastern Maine soccer championships on Thursday.

On Wednesday afternoon, representatives from all three teams showed up, shovels in hand, at Husson University. There, they went to work removing the remaining snow from the artificial turf of Boucher Field.

The cooperative effort made sure the playing surface would be clear for Thursday’s regional championship games. Bangor Christian takes on Ashland for the Class D title at 1 p.m., then Orono and Central of Corinth are scheduled to vie for the Class C crown at 4 p.m.
