PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A section of U.S. Route 1A was closed to traffic Friday morning after a tractor trailer truck jackknifed on Clark Brook Hill.

According the the Maine Department of Transportation website, as of 10:30 a.m. the section between Fort Street near the Westfield-Presque Isle town line and Academy Street in Presque Isle had been reduced to one lane.

“Traffic is backed up a ways because of the number of tractor trailers,” according to the dispatcher at the Presque Isle Police Department, who said Maine State Police units are on the scene.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Snow was coming down steadily in Aroostook County with the National Weather Service forecasting up to 10 inches in some areas before the storm ends Friday night.

Dispatchers around the County were dealing with numerous calls of cars sliding off snow-covered roads Friday morning.
