ROCKPORT, Maine — A two-vehicle crash slowed Route 1 traffic Monday evening.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when a 2014 Chevy Tahoe was driving north on Route 1 and slowed to make a right-hand turn near 7 Mountains Motel. The rental sports utility vehicle was being driven by Scott Kolling, 45, of Texas.

At the same time, another northbound vehicle — a 2007 Chevy Equinox driven by Francine Morris, 44, of Camden — failed to stop in time and slammed into the rear of the SUV.

Sgt. Travis Ford of the Rockport Police Department said Morris’ vehicle was destroyed. There was rear-end damage to the rental vehicle.

Neither driver was injured despite the extensive damage, the sergeant said.

Route 1 was reduced to one lane for about 20 minutes.
