ORONO, Maine — Orono-Veazie Water District Trustee John McCormack’s term will expire at the end of December and those interested in filling the five-year seat are invited to apply, City Clerk Nancy Ward said Thursday.
Everything about the seat and the application is available on the city’s website, or can be picked up at the Orono town office, she said.
The water district has a total of five trustees on rotating terms, three appointed by Orono’s town council and two selected by Veazie.
The board has seen a lot of recent turnover, with three new members appointed in the last year. Veazie resident Joan Perkins was appointed earlier this year to fill a vacancy that expires at the end of 2016, and in March Orono town councilors appointed Jason Bolton to a five-year term and appointed Paul Smith to fill a vacancy that expires in December 2015.
Superintendent Dennis Cross also announced in October that he is retiring at the end of the year.
Those interested in filling the position must submit their applications and letter of interest to the Town of Orono, 59 Main Street, Orono, ME 04473 by noon on Nov. 26, 2014.
