WINTERPORT, Maine — A Bangor man is facing a drunken driving charge after allegedly driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 95 on Monday, police said.
The sequence of events leading to the arrest of William Musor, 46, started around 4:45 p.m. when Waldo County deputies received a call for assistance from state police when it was reported a man was driving on the interstate in the wrong direction, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Wiley McVety had received the call for backup from state police, who believed Musor may have been intoxicated and may have had a conditional license, prohibiting him from driving after consuming any alcoholic beverage, according to Trafton.
McVety was able to make contact with Musor in Winterport after his vehicle had left the interstate, and it turned out his license was conditional, Trafton said.
When asked about driving the wrong way on the interstate, Musor claimed he was unfamiliar with the area, Trafton said. Field sobriety tests confirmed that Musor had been driving drunk and was arrested.
He was charged with OUI and operating without a license and taken to the Waldo County Jail. Musor was later released on $250 bail.
