Oxford Hills High School senior standout Anna Winslow has committed to attend and play basketball at Central Maine Community College in Auburn next season, according to a news release from CMCC.

Timberwolves’ Martin out with fractured wrist

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin will be sidelined indefinitely after an MRI revealed a fracture in his right wrist.

The team said Friday that further evaluation will be done over the next few days to determine the next course of action or whether surgery will be required.

The injury occurred at the 6:48 mark of the first quarter during Minnesota’s 115-99 win over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. Martin managed to remain in the game and scored 37 points.

Through nine games this season, Martin is averaging 20.4 points on 48.3 percent shooting from the floor and 48.1 percent from the 3-point line.

Dodgers acquire Rays reliever Peralta

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired veteran reliever Joel Peralta from the Tampa Bay Rays in a four-player trade.

In the Thursday night deal, the Dodgers also received minor league left-handed pitcher Adam Liberatore from Rays in exchange for young right-handers Jose Dominguez and Greg Harris.

The move was the first major league trade under new Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, who spent 10 years in the Rays’ front office.

The right-handed Peralta, 38, pitched 69 games for the Rays last season, going 3-4 with a 4.41 ERA. In 10 seasons with five teams, Peralta is 16-33 with a 3.92 ERA. The Rays recently picked up a $2.5 million option on Peralta for 2015.

Hornets’ Taylor won’t appeal suspension

Charlotte Hornets forward Jeffery Taylor will not appeal the 24-game suspension handed down this week by the NBA after he pleaded guilty last month in a domestic violence case, according to a report.

After commissioner Adam Silver suspended Taylor on Wednesday, National Basketball Players Association executive director Michele Roberts said a day later that the league’s punishment was “excessive, without precedent and a violation of the collective bargaining agreement.”

Multiple media outlets reported Friday that Taylor will accept the suspension, which will cost him nearly $200,000 of his $915,000 salary. Taylor pleaded guilty in October to misdemeanor domestic violence assault and malicious destruction of hotel property after an incident in September in East Lansing, Mich.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement gives Silver the right to suspend players, but Roberts challenged the severity of the punishment.

Colts TE Allen ruled out

Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Allen suffered an ankle injury against the New England Patriots last Sunday night and was unable to practice all week. He has 26 catches for 374 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
