ORLAND —  Radio station WERU will hold its Live & Local On-Air Auction 9-11:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.

Those who wish to participate in the auction may tune in to WERU-FM, 89.9 Blue Hill and 99.9 Bangor.

More than 70 items donated by members of the WERU community will be up for bid, including gift certificates for restaurants, inns, classes, concerts, galleries, and many other services, and products. Items range from $25 in value to $750  Items of higher value will be offered throughout the auction, including a two-day getaway at the lighthouse Keeper’s House on Isle Au Haut, with gourmet meals; the course of your choice at the WoodenBoat School in Brooklin; five days at the Acadia School of Traditional Music in Bar Harbor; two nights lodging for two people and two dogs at Creature Quarters in Blue Hill; a weekend painting workshop on Deer Isle; and two premium tickets to the concert of your choice at Waterfront Concerts.

Auctioneers will describe each group of items while listeners call 800-643-6273 and provide name, phone number and bid to one of the WERU phone answerers. Bids will be reported on air as they come in. After bidding on an item finishes, the highest bidder will receive a call from a WERU volunteer who will confirm payment method and acquire mailing address information.

Or, place a bid in advance for higher-value items. From 8 to 9 a.m., one hour before the auction begins, listeners are invited to call 469-6600 or 800-643-6273 to make a bid at the opening amount or any higher amount on any of the items listed on the WERU website that are valued at $100 or more. These pre-bids will become part of the bidding process.
