TRENTON, Maine — A Hancock woman was killed and a Lamoine woman injured in a collision on Jordan River Road on Monday morning, sheriff’s deputies said.

Brenda Woods, 53, was traveling north shortly before 10 a.m. when her Hyundai collided with a southbound SUV driven by Jennifer Richter, 24, of Lamoine, according to a statement from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

Woods was pronounced dead at the scene. Information on Richter’s injuries was not disclosed.

Neither Woods nor Richter were wearing seat belts, according to the statement. Woods apparently had crossed the centerline while negotiating a curve in the road.

The accident remains under investigation, and Deputy Jeffrey McFarland is reconstructing the accident.

Fire departments from Trenton and Lamoine assisted police at the scene.
