PORTLAND, Maine — The victim of a Friday night homicide in Portland was described as “beautiful inside and out” by one of his friends Sunday.

Assistant Portland Police Chief Vernon Malloch identified the victim as Richard Lobor, 23, of Portland, on Saturday.

Lobor was visiting a 214 Brighton Ave. apartment when he was shot Friday in an incident reported at 9:05 p.m. Police have not released any information about what they believe took place at the apartment, who the shooter may have been or what Lobor’s relationship to the suspect was.

Malloch on Friday night told reporters less than two hours after the incident that the perpetrator was no longer believed to be in the area.

On Monday morning, Malloch told the Bangor Daily News there’s “nothing new to report.”

Portland television station WGME, CBS 13, reported on Sunday that Lobor worked in construction and those close to him described him as someone who loved his family.

“Richard Lobor is the most humble brother you can have,” Abdi Ali, a friend of Lobor, told CBS 13. “We all have our ups and downs, but he was beautiful inside and out. It’s sad that we lost him.”
