VAN BUREN, Maine — A search warrant executed earlier this month in Van Buren resulted in the arrest last week of Dennis Winchester, 50, who is facing multiple charges in connection with the discovery of stolen items at his Van Buren residence, according to Sgt. Chad Fuller of the Maine State Police.

Winchester was charged on Nov. 26 with five counts of burglary, eight counts of theft, seven counts of criminal mischief and one count of violating conditions of release, according to information released by Fuller on Sunday evening.

The charges stem from an investigation that included multiple search warrants and interviews with victims of alleged crimes going back to December 2013, Fuller said.

On Nov. 9, Maine State Police Troopers assisted the Van Buren Police Department in executing a search warrant at Winchester’s Castonguay Road residence where a number of stolen items were found and seized, Fuller said.

Police worked to identify the owners of the stolen property stemming from crimes committed in Washburn, New Canada, New Sweden, Caswell, Stockholm, Perham and Cyr Plantation, according to Fuller.

Winchester is being held at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and will appear in Caribou Superior Court on Dec. 18.
