BURLINGTON, Vermont — Audra Richards scored off assists from Brooke Stacey and Emilie Brigham at 17:48 of the third period on Sunday, lifting the University of Maine women’s hockey team to a 2-0 Hockey East victory over Vermont.
Jennifer More scored a first-period goal for the Black Bears (7-8-2, 6-2-1 HE), with Hailey Browne and Katy Massey providing assists. Meghann Treacy made 31 saves for UMaine, which shut out Vermont 3-0 on Saturday.
Klara Myren scored in the first period for the Catamounts (8-8-1, 1-6 HE). Madison Litchfield made 19 saves.
On Saturday, Treacy logged 38 saves as the Bears blanked the Catamounts.
Kristin Gilmour, Abbey Cook and Richards netted a goal apiece for UMaine. Browne, Brooklyn Langlois, Stacey, Brigham and Richards provided assists.
Litchfield made 24 saves for Vermont.
Colby 1, UMass Boston 0
At Boston on Saturday, Jess Thulin made 31 saves to record her first collegiate win in the Mules’ win over UMass Boston.
Senior tri-captain Jackie Tavella had her first goal of the season at 3:28 of the second period for the lone goal of the game for 2-4 Colby College of Waterville.
Kailyn Burke made 21 shots for UMass Boston (5-2-3).
Men’s Basketball
Rochester 69, UMFK 56
At Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania, Rochester College built a 15-point lead en route to a win over the University of Maine-Fort Kent on Saturday.
Paris Pereira scored 15 of his team-high 22 points in the first half for the 6-4 winners. Matt Gold provided 11 points and seven rebounds and Milton Cribbs added nine points and nine rebounds.
Joe McCloskey poured in a game-high 26 points and grabbed five boards for the 2-3 Bengals. Marquis Glenn (6 rebounds) and Qaadir Ali (5 rebounds, 5 assists) scored 11 points each for UMFK.
Colby 86, CSJ 66
At Boston on Saturday, Luke Westman led a list of five double-figure scorers with 17 points and added four assists as the Mules beat the College of St. Joseph (Vermont) in the consolation game of the UMass Boston Harbor Invitational.
Connor O’Neil and Chris Hudnut (7 rebounds, 4 assists) tossed in 13 points each for 5-2 Colby while Sam Willson (8 rebounds) scored 11 points and Joseph Connelly added 10.
KaShean Alston led College of St. Joseph (5-7) with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Women’s Basketball
At Waterville on Sunday, Mia Diplock and Carylanne Wolfington scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, to power the Mules to victory over the Bobcats.
Caitlyn Nolan tossed in 17 points and MaryKate Caverly added 12 for unbeaten Colby (6-0).
Bernadette Connors paced Bates College of Lewiston (5-3) with nine points. Kristin Calvo and Allie Coppola added eight points each.
Bowdoin 73, Salve Regina 33
At Brunswick on Saturday, the Polar Bears held the Seahawks to a 20 percent shooting to set the tone for a lopsided victory.
Shannon Brady led Bowdoin College (4-2) with 16 points, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Marle Curle (7 rebounds) and Siena Mitman netted 10 points each, while Sara Binkhorst posted nine points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds.
Meaghan Harden tallied 14 points and five rebounds to propel Salve Regina (3-3), while Allyson Esielionis contributed 11 points.
