BANGOR, Maine — Kristie Hawkins, the director of compliance and head softball coach at Husson University, has accepted a new position outside of collegiate athletics and will be leaving the school on Dec. 12.

“I would like to thank the entire Husson community for their support during my time as head softball coach,” Hawkins said in a press release. “It has been a great pleasure to lead this program and to have been a part of such a great group of student-athletes.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Husson as well as the staff I have worked with. I’d like to personally thank Frank Pergolizzi for the opportunity and for his support of both myself and the softball program,” she added.

Hawkins, who came to Husson from the Colorado School of Mines in 2013, led Husson softball to its sixth straight North Atlantic Conference championship and NCAA Division III tournament appearance in 2014.

“We thank Kristie for her efforts in leading our softball program and wish her the very best,” Pergolizzi, Husson’s athletic director, said.

A search for Hawkins’ replacement will begin immediately.
