SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A trucker escaped injury Tuesday morning after his rig crashed into a vacant house on Route 201, according to officials.
The accident occurred shortly after 4 a.m., according to Capt. Mike Savage of the Skowhegan Fire Department.
The driver, whose name was not available, was not hauling anything, Savage said. Route 201 is known locally as Madison Avenue.
Savage said nobody was living in the two-story house, which was demolished. The driver’s truck was also destroyed, he said.
Traffic was light on the road at the time of the accident and crews only had to shut down one lane of the four-lane highway, Savage said. The scene was cleared shortly before 7 a.m.
