ROCKLAND, Maine — A 25-year-old Spruce Head woman was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months in prison after admitting to spitting in the face of a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officer.

Justice William Stokes revoked the probation of Becky Condon and ordered her to serve 33 months of a previously suspended prison term as part of an agreement worked out by her attorney and the prosecutor.

Condon was on probation for a previous drug conviction when she was found to have violated probation by testing positive twice for drugs and for failing to notify her probation officer of an address change. When she was at the Knox County Courthouse on Aug. 26, a pair of MDEA agents arrested her for the probation violations.

As she was put into a cruiser, Condon spit in the face of one of the agents, according to Assistant Attorney General Katie Sibley. Condon was charged with assault and has been in jail since.

Under the agreement the judge OK’d Wednesday, Condon was credited with the three months served since her arrest and was ordered to serve another 30 months.

In arguing for leniency, defense attorney Roger Hurley presented the judge with a letter signed by jail staffers who pointed out that Condon has participated in education programs and anger management sessions while imprisoned.

Stokes praised Condon for her efforts and said she could lead a productive life once she completes her significant jail term.
