FAIRFIELD, Maine — A local man was injured late Thursday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle on Main Street, according to police.
Christopher Griffiths, 47, was walking along the side of the road just after 5 p.m. when he was hit by a Subaru driven by Edwin Matthew, 56, of Winslow, Fairfield Police Chief Tom Gould said.
Gould said Griffiths had just left a sidewalk when he was struck. Matthew did not see him, and charges are not expected to be filed.
Griffiths initially was taken to MaineGeneral Hospital’s Thayer campus, then he was brought by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with critical injuries, according to Gould.
Police are still investigating the accident.
