NEWFIELD, Maine — A Christmas tree was stolen from a Bond Spring Road home recently, and police are seeking the culprit.

The theft occurred overnight Sunday into Monday morning, according to Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The tree’s owner planted and nurtured the 6-foot-tall pine in her side yard in memory of her brother, who died of a heart attack last year, King said.

Solar lights that were used to decorate the tree were left at the scene, King said.

Anyone with information on the tree should call the sheriff’s office at 324-1113.
