CASCO, Maine — A fire destroyed a ranger station Wednesday on Sebago Lake.

Firefighters got the call around 7 a.m. Wednesday but when crews got there, the building was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters had to pull water from the lake to put the fire out. Crews say they had a difficult time getting firefighters because many of the volunteers were busy with other jobs from Tuesday’s storm.

“We did get a good turnout from surrounding towns unfortunately due to recent weather and whatnot. It took them a while to get here. We did the best we could and once we got water established we really started making headway on it,” said Deputy Chief Andrew Burnham of the Naples Fire Department.

No one was hurt and the building is a total loss. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
