AUGUSTA, Maine — A New Jersey pair were arrested Wednesday when drug agents seized a large quantity of crack cocaine, cash and oxycodone.

Kimberly Maldonado, 47, and Otis Tosen, 43, were arrested outside an Augusta motel, according to Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Peter Arno.

Arno said both had outstanding warrants for their arrests when they were taken into custody.

During the last several months, drug agents have been investigating the pair’s suspected importing of crack cocaine and oxycodone into Maine for resale in the Augusta area, according to Arno.

Agents have made numerous undercover purchases of drugs during the investigation, Arno said.

A search warrant was executed on the pair’s motel room following their arrests. Officials seized 50 grams of crack, 150 grams of powder cocaine, 620 oxycodone pills and $5,200 in cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is in excess of $36,000.

Tosen’s warrant stemmed from a three-count indictment in Kennebec County for an aggravated drug trafficking charge, while Maldonado’s came from failing to appear on a 2013 unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs charge.

After their arrests Wednesday, Tosen was charged with six counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a Class A felony, while Maldonado was charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, also a Class A felony.

Bail has not been set for the pair, who are being held at the Kennebec County Jail.

Augusta police assisted MDEA agents with the investigation, which is ongoing and could result in more arrests.
