BANGOR, Maine — Two more people were arrested this week in connection with a bizarre armed robbery in September in which medical marijuana was stolen from a Winterport grower, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Friday.
The Sept. 21 robbery was caught on a security camera as three armed men impersonating law enforcement officers — two dressed in black SWAT team gear and one wearing a sheriff’s office uniform and brandishing a gun — allegedly made off with a number of marijuana plants.
Two men, Jeffrey Hurd and Scott Roberts, had earlier been charged in connection with the robbery.
The third man wanted in connection with the robbery was arrested Thursday, McCausland said.
Kerry Hurd, Jeffrey Hurd’s brother, was taken into custody without incident by U.S. Marshals and Maine State Police in the parking lot of a Hannaford store in Bucksport.
Kerry Hurd, 45, was taken to the Waldo County Jail. He was charged with robbery, impersonating a public servant, trespass and theft by unauthorized taking.
Also arrested in connection with the robbery was April Jones, 28, of Orneville Township, McCausland said.
Troopers say she drove the three men to the robbery and is the girlfriend of Roberts. Troopers arrested Jones on Monday at her home. She was charged with robbery and theft by unauthorized taking.
Jones was taken to the Piscataquis County Jail.
Jeffrey Hurd and Roberts turned themselves in to police in early October.
