SACO, Maine — Saco police have arrested Pamela Golarz, 56, of Old Orchard Beach for her involvement in the recent theft of Christmas wreaths at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.

Saco police say they received a complaint on Dec. 4 from a family member who had a wreath stolen off a headstone. More thefts were reported over the following days.

Fifteen items in all were stolen, valuing around $800.

Surveillance videos, obtained from one of the victims, showed a woman with a Ford Explorer pull up to a gravesite and remove a wreath from a headstone.

With help from the public, Old Orchard Beach police were able to identify Golarz as a person of interest.

On Dec. 8, the Saco and Old Orchard Beach police departments searched her home. Two large Christmas arrangements were recovered.

Nine more stolen items were recovered following the search of three more homes on December 10.

According to police, Golarz turned herself in to the Saco Police Department and was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and falsifying physical evidence, three misdemeanor offenses.

Golarz posted $150 cash bail and is scheduled to appear for arraignment on Jan. 28, 2015.
