BANGOR, Maine — Raheem Anderson scored seven points in overtime to help the Husson University Eagles grab an 85-75 North Atlantic Conference victory over the Castleton State Spartans in men’s basketball action Saturday at Newman Gym.
Anderson finished with 24 points, nine assists and six rebounds for Husson (6-1, 4-0 NAC) and Trevon Butler contributed 24 points, six rebounds and six assists. Matt Talbot tallied 10 points and nine rebounds and Mitch Worcester added nine points for the Eagles, who knocked down 16 3-pointers and outrebounded Castleton State (4-4, 2-2 NAC) 44-29.
Chad Copeland’s 22 points paced Castleton State, which received 16 points from Pavin Parrish and 13 from Rob Coloutti.
Green Mountain 81, MMA 74
At Castine on Saturday, Cassius Belfon’s 25-point performance sparked the Eagles to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Mariners.
Chris Strong provided 21 points, six rebounds and five assists for Green Mountain (2-6, 2-2 NAC).
Kyle Boucher’s 18 points headed a balanced attack for Maine Maritime Academy (1-8, 0-4 NAC). Tyler Thayer netted 14 points, while Nick Holt (6 rebounds) and Dyland Stevens contributed 11 points each. Dylan Price added 10 points, five assists and three steals.
Thomas 66, UMPI 65
At Waterville on Saturday, Justin Murray connected for 23 points to carry the Terriers to victory over the Owls.
Levi Barnes scored 18 points for Thomas (3-7).
Maurice Harris paced the University of Maine-Presque Isle (7-4) with 18 points and snared nine rebounds. Chase Vicaire scored 15 points, while Trevor Lovely added nine.
UM-Machias 91, UMA 88
At Machias on Saturday, Dreu Johnson scored four points during the final 1:12 of the second half to lift the Clippers to victory.
Dave Kalmbach paced a balanced University of Maine-Machias with 15 points, while Johnson and Brandon Blakely contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively. Floyd Higgins added 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Keith Chesley (9 rebounds) and Taylor Wilbur each connected for 22 points to propel the University of Maine-Augusta. Brandon Rogers posted 13 points and seven rebounds.
Women’s Basketball
MMA 81, Green Mountain 26
At Castine, Mary Badeen poured in 27 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added four assists and three steals to spearhead the Mariners to a North Atlantic Conference win on Saturday.
Kristi Willey provided a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and racked up seven steals and six assists for Maine Maritime Academy (3-5, 1-3 NAC).
Allison Wadsworth led Green Mountain College (0-6, 0-4 NAC) with 14 points.
Thomas 65, UMPI 57
At Waterville on Saturday, Katie McAllister led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds to propel the Terriers to victory over the Owls.
Ashleigh Gagne scored 14 points with six rebounds for Thomas (1-7).
Rebecca Campbell scored a game-high 17 points and racked up 23 rebounds to power the University of Maine-Presque Isle (2-4). Sydney Churchill tossed in 15 points, while Darby Toth (5 assists) and Brianna Losee added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Castleton 62, Husson 54
At Newman Gym in Bangor, the Spartans built a 15-point halftime lead en route to the North Atlantic Conference victory over the Eagles on Saturday.
Meghan O’Sullivan sparked Castleton State (7-1, 4-0 NAC) with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Bryanna DuPont registered 12 points and a game-best 20 rebounds. Lindsay Sabo and Jade Desroches scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Chandler Guerrette was the lone double-figure scorer for Husson (3-3, 3-1 NAC) with 13 points and added six rebounds and three steals. Katy Brochu provided nine points and six rebounds.
UMFK 69, Thomas 41
At Fort Kent on Sunday, Ericka Saucier recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the UMaine-Fort Kent Bengals improve to 5-4.
Bobbi Myles chipped in with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the Bengals and Alexis Warne and Danielle Carrillo each added 8 points. Jasmin Rowland contributed with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Katie McAllister paced Thomas of Waterville (1-8) with 12 points and Olivia Brown added 8 points and 6 rebounds.
On Saturday, UMFK beat Fisher 107-39 in Boston when every UMFK player scored. Carrillo and Sabrina Head both had 15 points while Saucier had 14 and 9 rebounds. Warne contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Necole White had 13 points 5 assists and 4 steals and Sam Carapellucci had 11 points.
