AUGUSTA, Maine — An Augusta man is being held without bail after police said he barged into his estranged wife’s apartment, assaulted her and threatened her new boyfriend early Saturday morning.

Aaron Tardiff, 27, faces several charges, including a felony burglary charge and misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, possession of marijuana, and violating a condition of release.

Augusta police said around 1:44 a.m. Saturday, Tardiff was banging on the door of his estranged wife’s apartment on Mount Vernon Avenue when she opened the door and Tardiff made his way in. Police said Tardiff also tried to assault an officer when they responded. No one was hurt in the incident.
