MILLINOCKET – Beatrice M. Sargent, 87, passed away Friday, December
12, 2014 at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born November
9, 1927 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the daughter of Alfred G. and
Velma (Glidden) Birmingham.

Bea grew up in Patten, and was a graduate of Patten Academy, class of
1947, where she played on the basketball team, in a time when girls
basketball was in its beginning stages. Bea sold Avon in Millinocket
for a period of time, and taught at Mother Goose pre-school before
going to work as a teacher’s aide in the Millinocket School Department
for 18 years. She enjoyed sewing, and made school clothes for her
daughters for several years. Bea had a great love of playing and
listening to Christian music along with knitting, crocheting, and
painting pictures of outside scenes. Bea also spent time golfing, and
spent 13 memorable winters in Florida after retiring. She was a
communicant of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Millinocket. Bea will
be remembered for her cooking, as well as for her greatest source of
joy, spending time with family and organizing family get togethers
around holidays and various occasions.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gean G. Sargent of
Millinocket; two children, Deborah Nelson and her husband John of
Millinocket, and Beth Sargent of Pittsfield; four grandchildren,
Shelley Illingworth and her husband Micah, Tracy Hopkins and her
husband Jayson, Isabella Enriquez, and Gavrielle Enriquez; four great
grandchildren, Renee Pelletier, Sophie Pelletier, Parker Hopkins, and
Carter Illingworth; a sister, Christine Cummings; a brother Bertram
Birmingham; sisters-in-law Eleanor Sargent, Barbara Coolong and
husband Chester, and Carol Kulberg and husband Gordon; and several
nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Bea was
predeceased by a twin sister, Bernice Birmingham, an infant baby girl,
a brother in law, Joseph Cummings, and a sister in law, Marion
Birmingham.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jenkins and the entire staff at
Katahdin Health Care for the superior care given to Bea.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 12-1 P.M. Friday,
December 19, 2014 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St.,
Millinocket, where funeral services will begin at 1 P.M. with the Rev.
Levering Sherman officiating. Spring interment will be at the
