BREWER, Maine — Police have identified the man struck early Saturday morning near the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge as David Grant, 73, of Brewer.
He was struck at 6:27 a.m. Saturday while crossing North Main Street near City Hall, according to Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt.
Grant was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with what Moffitt described as serious or critical injuries.
Information about his condition was not available from the hospital early Sunday afternoon.
The injured man is the owner of Dave’s Barber Shop, located at 96 N. Main St., in Brewer, according to Brewer Mayor Matthew Vachon. Grant was walking to work when he was struck.
Moffitt said Sunday in an email that the accident remains under investigation.
