SOLON, Maine — A local man is facing multiple charges after an alleged sexual assault against a 12-year-old boy in 2012, police said.

William Quattrocchi, 24, who was already at the Somerset County Jail on a probation hold for an unrelated burglary, is facing additional charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact, Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said.

In early November, the sheriff’s department launched an investigation into an alleged assault in Solon, according to Lancaster, with allegations that Quattrocchi was the man responsible.

After interviewing the victim, who was 12 at the time of the alleged assault, and Quattrocchi and reviewing computer evidence coupled with the case, it was determined that Quattrocchi did have sexual contact with the victim, Lancaster said.

Quattrocchi received the new charges on Monday, and will face them in court on Wednesday, Lancaster said.

He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the Class A felony charge of gross sexual assault.
