CARIBOU, Maine — Any dreams of a white Christmas were dashed on Thursday by unseasonably high temperatures that set and tied records, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the weather service’s Caribou forecast center, record temperatures were tied in two communities and was broken in Bangor.

The Queen City’s high temperature was a balmy 54 degrees, eclipsing the previous mark of 51 set in 2003.

Most of the state saw periods of rain on Christmas morning but the sun broke out as the day went along.

Caribou and Houlton also tied high temperatures set in 2003, according to the weather service.

Caribou’s high reached 48 degrees while Houlton got as warm as 53 degrees.
