BANGOR, Maine — More than 2,000 Emera Maine customers in northern Penobscot and southern Aroostook counties woke up Friday morning without electricity.

Approximately 2,246 customers were without power after strong winds gusted through northern Maine on Thursday night, according to a company statement.

Towns affected include Benedicta, Herseytown, Sherman, Patten and Crystal.

As of early Friday afternoon, only 55 Emera Maine customers were without electricity, according to the company’s website.
