WALES, Maine — A Wales man, already on bail and accused of killing a man, sexually assaulted multiple children, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office. One of his alleged victims was just eight years old.
Christopher Austin, 43, is being held on $50,000 bail. He’s charged with eight counts of gross sexual assault and more charges are possible, according to investigators.
Austin’s been free on bail since 2013. He’s charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Gerard Parent two years ago.
Police said Austin and Parent were both hunting in Wales, just a few hundred yards from a residential neighborhood. Both men were pursuing the same deer when Austin fired, missed, and hit Parent, police said.
