BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brunswick police allege that a 33-year-old Brunswick man who was recently indicted on drug trafficking charges sold hydrocodone pills from his home on Perryman Drive.
Stephen Sands was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury in December on two Class B felony counts of trafficking in scheduled drugs and two counts of violation of conditions of release for incidents allegedly occurring in September and October 2014, according to the indictment.
Sands was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 18 on Perryman Drive.
Brunswick Police Detective Rich Cutliffe said Tuesday that undercover police investigated the case for several months.
“We were purchasing 10 to 20 pills at a time,” Cutliffe said. “We seized close to $1,000 in currency when he was arrested.”
Sands was previously arrested Aug. 6, 2013, and charged with felony drug possession, Cutliffe said. A judge then granted him a deferred disposition, meaning that if he committed no further crimes for a set period, the charges would be dismissed.
Sands was held at Cumberland County Jail until Dec. 22, when he was released on $4,000 cash bail, according to jail officials. He is scheduled to appear in Portland Superior Court on March 4.
