CARIBOU, Maine — A storm system moving across the state Monday was producing light snow that made for slick driving conditions.

Up to 5 inches of snow was expected in Aroostook County by the time the front leaves the state Monday night, according to the National Weather Service’s Caribou forecast center, while up to 3 inches was expected in the Bangor area.

A cold front is expected to bring chilling temperatures to northern Maine early Tuesday, according to the weather service.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect from 1 to 10 a.m. Tuesday for Aroostook, northern Somerset, northern Penobscot and northern Piscataquis counties, with wind chills expected to dip as low as 31 below zero.

Air temperatures in those areas are expected to be as low as 11 below, according to the weather service.
