Teacher of the Year

BREWER — Robert Hodgdon, a teacher at Richmond Hill Middle School in Bryan County has been selected as the 2015 Middle School Science Teacher of the Year for the state of Georgia by the Georgia Science Teachers Association.

Hodgdon has been a teacher at the school for 10 years. His current assignment is seventh-grade advanced content life science. He is also the coordinator for a Field Studies

Program that provides students, their parents and other school staff with opportunities

to conduct real-world surveying, monitoring and research activities with scientists and

specialists from the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife, Georgia Department of Natural

Resources, and Fort Stewart Fish and Wildlife Division.

Hodgdon graduated from the University of Maine in 1991. He is the son of the late Robert Hodgdon Sr. of Tremont and Clarice (Walsh) McClure of Brewer.

Bryant University

BANGOR — Shruti Kansara of Bangor was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode island.

Project management course

BANGOR — Husson University announced recently that it will begin a five-week program in project management leadership on Feb. 3, at all three of their major campuses in Westbrook, Bangor and Presque Isle.

As part of the project management leadership program, students will take a case study through a four-phase project planning process. The program will conclude with a course that prepares students to take the Project Management Professional or the Certified Associate in Project Management certification examinations, depending upon the student’s work experience level.

Robert Laliberte will serve as the senior instructor working with students to help them earn professional certification in project management. In addition to being a past board member of the Maine chapter of the Project Management Institute, Laliberte is a founding partner of Innovation Partners International, an organization dedicated to helping individuals, groups, organizations, networks and communities initiate and implement positive change and transformation. He is also a past president of the Maine Association for Psychological Type.
