PORTLAND, Maine — Ohio-based law firm consultant CuroLegal announced Tuesday it purchased the Maine-based freelance lawyer network Custom Counsel for an undisclosed price.
Custom Counsel offers a freelance network of about 100 lawyers.
CuroLegal, which consults with individual lawyers and law firms about how to become more efficient, said the acquisition allows it to offer freelance work alongside its consulting services.
“CuroLegal and Custom Counsel share the same mission — to help lawyers and law firms evolve their practices so that they can achieve maximum efficiency and profitability,” said Nicole Bradick, Custom Counsel’s founder, who is based in Cape Elizabeth.
CuroLegal hired Bradick as its chief strategy officer through the acquisition.
Custom Counsel lets law firms hire lawyers to help with specific projects and says it aims to provide “an alternative to the traditional way of practicing law.”
The company was founded in 2011. CuroLegal was founded in 2013 in Dayton, Ohio, and has 13 employees, according to the Dayton Business Journal. It helps law firms manage administrative operations and technology.
