BRUNSWICK, Maine — A 39-year-old Brunswick man is in custody after a domestic dispute that drew the Brunswick Police Department’s Special Response Team and officers from three other communities to a local hotel.
Robert Lind faces charges including domestic violence assault after the incident, which began just after 6 pm. Thursday at the New Meadows Motel on Bath Road.
No injuries were reported.
Brunswick Police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said at the scene that a 29-year-old woman fled a cabin at the back of the motel and told police Lind was armed with a gun and had made suicidal statements.
Police said the woman was assaulted and threatened while inside the cabin.
Lind also called the police station several times, Hagan said.
With assistance from the Bath and Topsham police departments and Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, police attempted to convince Lind to emerge from the cabin. When the Special Response Team arrived and negotiated with Lind, he emerged peacefully and was taken into custody, according to a release from Lt. Todd Ridlon.
Police found several weapons including a shotgun in the cabin.
Lind was booked at the Brunswick Police station and taken to Cumberland County Jail, where he was held without bail.
