BANGOR, Maine — An Aroostook County man pled guilty Friday to a bath salts charge and is awaiting sentencing, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Nate Brewer, 34, of Blaine will be sentenced at a later date and faces up to 20 years behind bars and a $1,000,000 fine.

He pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Bangor to conspiracy to possess bath salts with intent to distribute.

Between January 2012 and last June, Brewer conspired with others in Aroostook County to obtain and distribute the hallucinogenic drug.

Brewer specifically helped purchase bath salts from China for personal use and to sell to others, along with raising money to place bulk orders to receive discounted prices.

BDN sports freelancer Ryan McLaughlin grew up in Brewer and is a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins.
