ST. ALBANS, Maine — Two teenage boys have been charged in a rash of burglaries throughout Somerset County, according to sheriff’s deputies.
The boys, both 15, have been charged in six burglaries, during three of which eight firearms were stolen, according to Chief Deputy James Ross of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
The identity of the suspects was not disclosed because they are juveniles.
The burglaries occurred between late October and early December in St. Albans, Hartland, Palmyra and Detroit, and included two local businesses, the Palmyra Trading Post and the Auto Barn in Detroit, according to Ross.
In addition to the firearms, cash, change, a golf cart and two motor vehicles were stolen, Ross said. Seven of the guns, the golf cart and both of the motor vehicles have been recovered.
Sgt. Michael Knight was able to break the case after receiving a tip from the public, leading to a series of interviews that resulted in the recovery of the aforementioned stolen items.
Due to their ages, both boys have been charged as juveniles.
