SEARSPORT, Maine — A New York man was arrested on Monday night in connection with distributing oxycodone from the Bangor area to the midcoast, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Jason Jones, 32, of the Bronx is facing a Class A felony charge of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, MDEA Commander Scott Pelletier said.

On Monday night, a drug agent arranged to take delivery of 200 oxycodone pills from Jones, also known as “Smiley,” who was traveling from Bangor to Searsport after advising the agent to meet him at the Irving gas station on Route 1, according to Pelletier.

The investigation into the distribution of the drugs had occurred over the last several months, Pelletier said.

State police and drug agents arrested Jones without incident upon his meeting with the undercover agent, and the pills were seized from Jones. Jones had planned to sell the pills to the agent at $29 per pill, while the street value of the drugs is $40 to $45 per pill, Pelletier said.

Jones was brought to the Waldo County Jail, where bail was set at $50,000 cash. Searsport police assisted MDEA and state police.
