OLD TOWN, Maine — A woman Old Town police had sought the public’s help in locating was found on Thursday afternoon.
Old Town police Sgt. Michael Hashey said shortly after 3:30 p.m. Janice Boucher, 65, was found safe.
According to Hashey, a local woman noticed Boucher’s car earlier in the day on the Danforth Drive in Glenburn. After seeing media coverage about Boucher and the vehicle, the woman returned to the area.
“She followed footprints into the woods and located Boucher conscious but unable to move on her own,” Hashey said.
The woman, whose name was not immediately released, assisted Boucher and an ambulance transported Boucher to the hospital.
“It is clear that the woman saved Boucher’s life,” Hashey said.
Boucher, who suffers from dementia, had been last seen in the Bangor area, Hashey said in a statement issued earlier Thursday.
Hashey thanked members of the local media and the public for their assistance in locating Boucher.
