AUGUSTA, Maine — A Bronx, New York, man was arrested on Tuesday night by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials as he got off a bus in Augusta, the MDEA announced in a statement.
Rafael Brito, 28, is accused of trafficking in oxycodone, according to the statement.
An investigation into oxycodone distribution had been ongoing for the last two months, and it revealed that Brito had been traveling to Maine from New York on a weekly basis to distribute the drug in Knox County.
Brito would deliver the contraband and stay in hotels for several days before returning to New York.
When drug agents met up with Brito as he got off a Greyhound bus arriving from New York, he was in possession of 270, 30-milligram oxycodone pills, along with $3,900 in suspected drug money, according to the MDEA. The estimated street value of the drugs is $12,000.
Brito was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs and taken to Kennebec County Jail. Bail was set at $15,000.
